Husum Wind opens with calls for caution over German tenders

The Husum Wind fair and congress opened today with several leading turbine manufacturers unveiling models tailored for the key German market, and calls by industry and politicians to the government in Berlin to include grass-roots players when introducing a tendering model for future renewables support.

The fair, with 650 exhibitors and an expected 25,000 visitors to the small Northern German coastal town, is this year for the first time running as a bi-annual event catering mainly to the German wind industry, while the larger WindEnergy Hamburg fair in alternating years will be directed at the international sector.

Senvion, Nordex, Vestas and GE all launched models in the 3MW-plus range directed specifically at conditions in the German market, and mostly for moderate wind sites.

German
