The Vestas-backed non-profit organisation will accept three routes by which firms using the WindMade label can procure their power.
These are via ownership of a wind farm, through long-term wind power purchase agreements (PPAs), or by buying “high-quality” renewable-energy certificates (RECs) through WindMade-approved schemes.
If buying their own wind farm, companies must finalise the purchase less than two years after the facility has been commissioned.
