Governors want Obama action to spur solar, wind on public lands

Twenty US state governors have written to President Barack Obama calling on him and his administration to do more to expedite solar and wind resource development on public lands.

This includes development of resource in the country's interior and offshore wind along the east and west coasts.

Regarding offshore wind, the bipartisan Governors’ Wind & Solar Energy Coalition in its letter noted that while the first US project was recently completed in Rhode Island waters, Europe now has 11GW of generation capacity installed.
