Christie defended the move saying Senate Bill 988 “would usurp BPU’s authority” and remove its discretion for “managing energy matters” in New Jersey.
Earlier this year, he declined to sign similar legislation – using a so-called “pocket veto.”
The BPU, whose commissioners are all Christie appointees, has never warmed to the estimated $220m project that would face the Atlantic City seaside resort and more broadly, commercial wind development off of New Jersey’s coast.
