The internet giant – which has emerged as the world’s biggest non-utility purchaser of renewable power – will supply seed funding for sustainability policy organisation the Center for Resource Solutions (CRS) to develop REC programmes.
The first scheme will be in Taiwan, where Google plans to procure renewable energy for its data centre.
The US technology behemoth has struck more than 2GW of renewable supply deals, many for its global network of power-hungry data centres, but said “one of the challenges we face in Asia is that effective REC programmes simply aren’t available”.
With
