The license from the State Department of Agriculture and Environment of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern for construction and operation of Gicon's flagship SOF – Schwimmendes Offshore Fundament, German for "floating offshore foundation" – is "an important hurdle cleared", says the Dresden-based company.
"For all those involved, the permit means above all planning security," states SOF project manager Burkhard Schuldt.
"We are confident that we can continue to advance the project schedule for planned installation and subsequent testing of our functional model [next] spring."
