With the additions, Germany now has an accumulated offshore wind capacity of 3.29GW, surpassing all other nations bar the UK.
Offshore wind turbines produced over 8 terawatt hours of electricity in 2015, representing the electricity consumption of over 2 million households or 1.4% of Germany's gross electricity generation.
The figures were published by Deutsche WindGuard in its Status of Offshore Wind Energy Development in Germany, and commissioned by the Working Group for Offshore Wind Energy (AGOW), the German Wind Energy Association (BWE), the German Offshore Wind Energy Foundation (SOW), VDMA Power Systems and the German Wind Energy Agency (WAB).
