Consumers in 2015 will have to pay €0.0617 ($0.0781) per kWh on top of regular electricity they buy from power producers, down from a surcharge of €0.0624 this year, the country's four transmission system operators said in a joint release.
The EEG surcharge until 2014 had risen steeply, in part due to rising feed-in tariff (FIT) payments for RE, and paradoxically to a great extent due to falling wholesale electricity prices because of the peculiarities of the German energy system.
