Transmission system operator (TSO) TenneT is taking a series of measures to keep the high-voltage grid stable, and together with Germany's other TSOs today activated a 4.2GW grid reserve from Germany, Austria, Italy and Switzerland.
"The situation of the high-voltage grid remains tense," says Urban Keussen, chairman of TenneT's management board.
"To continue transporting rising amounts of electricity from renewable energies without interruptions, the expansion of the power grid in Germany is indispensable."
