GE, Vestas and Siemens dominate US wind turbine market in 2015

Acciona and Vestas set corporate records for US wind turbine capacity installation in 2015, as the Danish giant, General Electric and Siemens dominated the market with a combined 88% share, according to data compiled by the American Wind Energy Association (AWEA).

The US added 8.598GW of wind capacity in 2015, up from 4.854GW the previous year, AWEA’s US Wind Industry Fourth Quarter 2015 Market Reportshows.

Acciona installed 465MW of turbine capacity, surpassing its previous high of 410MW in 2008, while ending a two-year drought without any activity in the US. The vendor has a nacelle plant in Iowa.

Vestas quintupled installations from 584MW in 2014 to 2.87GW
