The projects are the result of a 2003 request for proposals by provincial utility Hydro-Quebec to supply the province with 1GW of new wind power by 2012. GE says its local supply-chain manufacturing and supplier partners in Quebec have been integral to its success.
In Ontario, 11 projects will use GE turbines that will deliver 1.2GW of wind energy by 2015.
