GE claims 20% of Brazil's surging wind turbine market

US industrial giant GE expects to have its brand on more than 20% of Brazil's installed wind power generation capacity by the end of this year, by doubling the size of its operational fleet in the South American country.

GE, one of seven turbine manufacturers with machines turning here, announced at the Brazil Windpower 2015 conference that it had installed its 1,000th turbine in the country.

The milestone installation was carried out at the 181.9MW Santa Brígida wind farm in the state of Pernambuco in northeastern Brazil. The facility is operated by local developer Casa dos Ventos, one of GE's largest customers in Brazil.
