The strategy is expected to only be used in Europe and not other international markets, such as Brazil, where Alstom turbines – which have been tailor-designed for the distinctive Brazilian winds – are seen as more competitive, one industry source said.
Wider supply chain considerations would also work against swapping GE turbines for Alstom machines in some non-European markets, another industry source suggested.
