The order came from SC Blue Line Impex, a subsidiary of Italian energy giant Enel, and includes a two-year operation and maintenance contract, and includes an option on another round of turbines totalling 138MW.
According to Gamesa chief executive Guillermo Ulacia, the order is a “new milestone in Gamesa’s commercial expansion to Eastern Europe.”
Ulacia says Gamesa views Romania is an area of outstanding potential for wind power, and expects the country to have more than 500MW installed capacity by 2020.
