Gamesa will supply 162 G9X-2.0MW turbines under turn-key contracts for the 162MW Eoliatec del Istmo and 160MW Eoliatec del Pacífico wind farms in Mexico’s wind resource rich Oaxaca state during the 2011-2013 period.
Mexico currently has around 582MW of wind capacity installed, while analysts Emerging Energy Research says the country could reach 7GW of capacity by 2025. Mexican president Felipe Calderón said in his opening of the COP16 conference that the country has the potential to generate 71GW of wind power.
