Gamesa gears up for larger turbines from new Brazil plant

Gamesa currently makes the G97 model in Brazil. The new factory may give the company the ability to increase the capacity of its locally-produced turbines up to 2.5MW from the current 2MW G97.

The plant is the main element of an agreement signed between Gamesa and Brazil's National Development Bank (BNDES) in 2013 to tap local component suppliers for up to 70% of its turbines by early 2016.
