Gamesa construction on China wind turbine plant underway

The 500 megawatt (MW) capacity plant in the city of Da’an will build Gamesa’s G8X 2MW turbines, with production beginning in 2011.

The plant will be Gamesa’s fifth facility in China, which represented 15% of the company’s turbine sales in 2009. The company’s four plants in Tianjin employ around 1,000 workers.

“The construction of this plant represents a new opportunity to accompany the growth of the market, in one of the provinces with the biggest wind capacities in China,” says Gamesa president Jorge Calvet.
