The expansion is part of the country's 'Energy Transition' plan, launched in 2009, which also aims to add 500MW of offshore wind by 2018, and 100MW of floating wind, wave and tidal to the grid by 2023.
By 2023, France has its sights on 26GW of onshore wind, 3GW offshore, and more than 20GW of solar.
