Pierre Parvex, president of offshore commission at FEE, said the country’s maritime sector was “mobilising strongly” to develop the technologies and supply chain needed for the four zones being tendered by Paris in the Mediterranean Sea and Atlantic Ocean, but cautioned if “pre-commercial floating wind farms [are not commissioned] by 2020, competitive advantage could be lost”.
“In offshore wind we are just beginning and in floating offshore we have the opportunity to drive these technologies forward first off France and then globally,” said Parvex, speaking at the FOWT16, a floating wind power conference that this year attracted over 300 delegates from 15 countries.
