Royal said next year's increase follows recommendations in the latest report from the Commission on Energy Regulation (CRE) and will see the increase capped at €3/MWh.
The increase will bring the tax to €19.5/MWh, less than the €26/ MWh currently needed to meet the bill for support, the regulator said.
The CSPE is intended to compensate the extra cost of supporting renewable energy, higher production costs in remote areas and social tariffs for electricity.
