After 24 years leading the company, Yurek is replaced by Dan McGahn, currently president and chief operating officer, effective from 1 June.
AMSC founder Yurek will continue to serve as chairman until the company’s annual meeting in August and as an advisor for the next two years.
AMSC says that it has been discussing the transition since 2010.
McGahn joined AMSC in 2006 as vice president for strategic planning and corporate development with an initial brief to set up AMSC China.
