Wind Capital Group wants to locate a 150MW project southeast of Lake Okeechobee on roughly 40.4 sq km of land in a sugarcane producing region. Land will be leased from sugarcane growers and would not affect production of the field crop.
Tony Wyche, spokesman for Wind Capital Group, tells Recharge that his company is talking with both electric cooperatives and investor-owned utilities on entering into a long-term power purchase contract.
