The milestone at Gunfleet Sands is the beginning of what will be a roughly five-year period of frenzied activity off the coasts of the UK, as the adolescent offshore renewables sector scrambles to bring as much as 7.2 gigawatts (GW) of Round 2 offshore wind capacity on line.
Construction at Gunfleet Sands, being developed by Danish energy utility DONG, started in October 2008.
