First Haliade PMG rolls out of Saint-Nazaire for GE

The first of a batch of 300 permanent magnet generators (PMGs) being serially manufactured at GE’s recently-acquired Saint-Nazaire, France factory has left the assembly line.

The generator is on its way for installation in a Haliade 150-6MW offshore wind turbine being erected at the Osterild test centre in Denmark by the US industrial giant, in advance of the start of trials in Q2.

“The factory in Saint Nazaire is the first offshore wind manufacturing site in France. It is a milestone in the nation’s energy history,” says Frederic Maenhaut, renewables executive, GE Power Conversion

“Now by leveraging technologies from different GE businesses, the GE Store, we are well positioned to bring clean offshore wind energy to the domestic market as well as export to regions beyond France where energy is needed.”
