Siemens had earlier said that it will supply 10 of its 4MW turbines for what is to be Finland's first commercial wind farm at sea, which also marks offshore technology pushing into colder-climate regions covered by ice during part of the year.
After being in the shadow of the North Sea for years, offshore wind in the Baltic Sea is gradually realising more of its vast potential, with new projects in Germany and now Finland being built, Sweden mulling a new support scheme for offshore and Polish projects about to gain first environmental permits.
