Wind and solar combined will account for more than 10% of global electricity generation in 2040, up from 4% in 2014, the oil giant says in a new report, The Outlook for Energy: A View to 2040.

“It is important to remember that these are global averages – the use of wind and solar will vary widely by region,” it notes, adding that demand for both will be aided by policies that favor or mandate their use.
