The contract, covering machines on EEA's 63MW Combine Hills 2 project in Oregon and 180MW Bull Creek development in Texas, will involve re-engineering and providing support for the re-manufacturing of the units over a period of some 15 years, with the aim of "dramatically reduc[ing]" turbine failure rates and extending the lifecycle of the existing gearboxes post-OEM warranty.

Romax will undertake full bearing analysis, selection, assembly and gearbox redesign concept assessment, complete with a detailed design and CAD analysis using its RomaxWind software suite, along with manufacturing and test support.
