The 10 joined forces to urge government and EU action over what they claim are distortions in the market caused by uncoordinated and misplaced support for renewable sources.
The power companies say that has led to situations such as the closure of almost-new gas generation plants because of the priority given to renewables – removing the back-up needed to ensure security of supplies.
