Eurelectric says availability of interconnector capacity has been decreasing over recent years, making it difficult to trade power across national borders. At the same time, the pattern of physical flows of power in Europe have changed.
The body says the problem “is partially due to growing location-specific and highly variable renewable generation, and partially a governance issue for European regulators and transmission system operators to solve”.
