Emerging markets key for wind

Global wind growth won’t maintain 2014’s frantic pace, but a steady expansion is expected in the coming years as the industry moves into emerging markets, WindEnergy Hamburg heard yesterday.

The message came in a joint press conference by the energy section of the German engineering federation, VDMA, and the national association of energy and water industries, BDEW.

After 35GW of global installations in 2013, the industry expects to grow by 25% this year, points out Andreas Nauen, who is chairman of the VDMA and chief executive of German turbine maker Senvion.
