The announcement was sparked by the World Bank’s decision in late June to loan Egypt $220m for a transmission line that will carry electricity from wind farms along the Gulf of Suez towards population centres farther north.
The September tender, which is open to 10 shortlisted firms, follows on the heels of a general bidding call launched in 2009 which attracted 72 companies.
