The deal, made via renewables unit EDF Energies Nouvelles, sees the French group take an 80% stake in UPC AWM for an undisclosed sum.
EDF – which last year said it wants to expand its activities in key overseas renewables markets – claimed it becomes the first major European energy group to make a “high ambition” move into Chinese renewables.
UPC AWM has 174MW operating, with 130MW in construction and a 1GW development pipeline.
