The 3.6MW turbines will be used at offshore wind farms in northern Europe, and are similar to those used at the DONG-owned Burbo Banks wind farm near Liverpool, England.
The agreement gives Siemens the chance to lock down its position as the leading turbine supplier for the rapidly growing offshore wind industry, according to René Umlauft, chief executive of Siemens’ renewable energy division.
