Dong hails 2014 wind 'breakthrough', takes $1bn oil price hit

Denmark’s Dong Energy has hailed a “breakthrough” 2014 for its offshore wind ambitions thanks to UK government support contracts – even as declining oil prices blew a DKr6.6bn ($1bn) hole in its full-year profits.

Dong – the world’s largest developer of offshore wind – said its “market-leading position” in the sector helped to boost operating profits (Ebitda) to DKr16.4bn last year, up from DKr15bn in 2013.
