The project is being developed by Caithness Energy, LLC and GE Energy Financial Services, in the wind-rich highlands of Eastern Oregon above the Columbia River, with total investments of around $2bn.
GE announced the $1.4bn 338-unit turbine order December. The contract was a key win for GE as Shepherds Flat is the first US order for its 2.5xl turbine as well as its single biggest order for the machine.
