DII spokesman Klaus Schmidtke would not confirm reports in the Süddeutsche Zeitung newspaper that the Munich-based initiative may be discontinued, but confirmed to Recharge that future financing and outlook for DII will be on the agenda of the Rome meeting.
DII expects to issue a statement on Tuesday.
Potentially boding ill for the continuation of DII is the fact that chief executive Paul van Son will leave the initiative at year-end to start in an executive position in Dubai for German utility RWE.
