The Deepwater ONE project will likely be built in several phases within two zones totaling 256 sq miles (663 sq km) that Deepwater Wind won in 2013, as part of the first-ever offshore wind competitive lease auction in US federal waters.
The Deepwater ONE zone is set roughly 17 miles south of Rhode Island, between Block Island – the site of Deepwater’s first project – and Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts.
