In the drive to bring costs down, more than one manufacturer will present models in the 4MW range.

German manufacturer Enercon will show its modular 4MW EP4 platform, featuring segmented blades and a split generator for eased road transport. The turbine maker later this year wants to present a low-wind version of its E-141 4.2MW machine.

Dutch newcomer Lagerwey Wind also is slated to present its direct-drive 4MW L136 turbine for the IEC IIA wind class that features a 136-metre rotor and passive air-cooled permanent magnet generator.
