As an increasing number of delegates predicted that negotiations will spill into the weekend, Kerry met senior officials from Brazil, India and Malaysia as the process entered what he described as “the critical phase”.
After meeting India’s environment minister Prakash Javadekar, Kerry – who had previously highlighted the country as a potential roadblock to a climate deal – told reporters the two had enjoyed a “very constructive meeting”.
