The total price tag of Clyde, which will be Europe’s largest onshore wind farm upon its completion, at 548 megawatts (MW), will now be around £500m, according to the Scottish government. The cost had previously been put at £600m.
Airtricity, the renewables division of Scottish and Southern Energy, says that 40% of the total investment will remain in Scotland. That includes £10m that will be spent by Siemens to build Clyde's 152 turbines at a Welcon-owned factory in Cambeltown.
