Numbers released by the State Electricity Regulatory Commission (SERC) yesterday show that new, grid-connected wind capacity reached only 12.9GW during 2012, although it said total grid-connected wind capacity is now close to 61GW – not far off the NEA cumulative figure of 62.4GW.

The discrepancy between the two agencies raised questions about whether the NEA figure included grid-connected capacity or only new installations.
