The Chinese state-run utility — which in December acquired Melbourne-based renewables developer Pacific Hydro and its 900MW wind and hydropower portfolio in Australia, Brazil and Chile — will likely refinance Taralga at some point in the future, according to Reuters.

The transaction will be finalised in the next six to eight weeks.

The project — which was built for roughly A$280m in in the state of New South Wales, southwest of Sydney — includes a 10-year PPA with Energy Australia.
