Mayor Rick Kaysen says Cheyenne would realize a minimum of $72m in royalty payments from land leases over the project’s 30-year life, and perhaps half that amount in property taxes. Cheyenne does not have an equity stake in the project, which will be sited about 10km west of the city.
The lease gives Cheyenne Wind, whose main known backer is the Morley Company of Jackson Hole, Wyoming, five years to carry out environmental and wind resource studies, and obtain necessary regulatory approvals and permits.
