Developed by Norwegian designer Seatower with Danish contractor MT Hoejgaard, the Crane-free Gravity Foundation (CGF) concept, which marries a floatable, flask-shaped concrete base with a steel tower, is designed to be fixed to the seabed without piles, unlike the conventional monopile and jacket structures commonly used at offshore wind farms.

The 1,423-tonne flagship is a part-scale model of the CGF concept, with a full-size version, such as would be needed for the 6MW Alstom Haliade 150s in the frame for Fécamp, expected to weigh some 2,800 tonnes, pre-ballast.
