“The creation of the Nagasaki Asia Marine Energy Centre is an important step to accelerate development of ocean renewable energy in Japan,” said Takaaki Morita, director of the Marine Industry Development Office.
The consortium behind the plan — which includes the Wind Energy Institute of Tokyo (WEIT) and the Nagasaki Marine Industry Cluster Promotion Association — have chosen an unspecified location in Nagasaki prefecture for the offshore renewable testing hub, in cooperation with the Nagasaki prefectural government.
