Newly-appointed WindEurope chairman Francesco Venturini, the chief executive of Enel Green Power, told Recharge that increasing the current 27% EU-wide goal to at least 30% was discussed at a meeting yesterday between leaders of Europe’s wind industry and Commission representatives.
Venturini says WindEurope believes that both onshore and offshore wind are vitally important across European member states and that “we need the rapid implementation of an effective energy market design framework…to ensure long-term price signals for the industry.
