The company, whose backers include RWE Innogy and EDF Energies Nouvelles, will use the money to buy 24 of REpower’s groundbreaking 6MW turbines, with construction scheduled for 2011-12.
It marks the first time an offshore project using 6MW turbines has been financed. A further 24 turbines will be added in the third phase.
REpower refuses to comment on the transaction until contracts have been finalised.
