The British medium- and large-scale wind industry added 2,250 posts to reach more than 15,400 direct, full-time jobs, said trade body RenewableUK.
RenewableUK’s latest annual report also shows indirect jobs supported by the sector up 8% to about 15,000.
It said most of the jobs created by wind are based on the STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths) qualifications hailed by the UK government as the gateway to high-value careers.
