“The March auction is for the Belo Monte [hydro dam] but the government has pledged to contract a lot of wind in the reserve auctions,” says Élbia Silva Gannoum, executive president of the Brazilian Wind Power Association, ABEEólica.
In January, the government published regulations that allow the 11.2GW Belo Monte to sell power at auctions at very competitive prices.
Belo Monte was contracted in a 2010 tender at R$77.97/MWh
