The power supplied was above the 6% projected for the day by the national grid operator ONS. In the northeastern region, where over 70% of Brazil's wind installed capacity is located, wind accounted for 39% of total supply.

The previous record had been registered in August 2015 when wind power supplied just over 6% of the total.

According to the Brazilian Wind Power Association (ABEEólica) Brazil's wind capacity reached 9.8GW
